My Sanity

Modelled by En En of course, but i t's for her cousin sister X (well, it still was all the while) ... I still have many projects on going...

Below is the one completed 3 months ago, the name is Macy Top / Dress... a very fun knitting project with many possibilies of changes to the look. It can be a top for older girl or a dress for young toddler.

Too bad En En is not really in love with this Macy Top, maybe the wool yarn is not suitable for our climate. So, any taker??

New Year... new life??

First of all, this is the first time mummy never update anything on the last day of 2010 and the first day of 2011. In short, no blogging activity from end of December 2010 till early January 2011. Nope, not really the lazy bug around but we are not in Malaysia!!!

Okay, the new life here means us in the family... don't get misunderstanding thinking mummy is carrying a new life. (No, two of them already making us tumbling down at home... no more new baby!!!)

Oh yes, we went to this place in the North with Gong Gong & Po Po and to make it more merrier, mummy's uncle's family (Po Po's brother) and mummy's maternal grandma joined in the fun too! Simply a new experience for En En and Zheng.

Can guess whereabout? Clues: It's almost 5-6 hours ride from Kedah. Need passport... or border pass. :)

Not many photos can be taken as Zheng was fussing, disturbing throughout the trip. No fun to bring a toddler who refuse to eat and be an obediant child for a few days. Well, at least we tried to include Zheng for all the trips we have. Probably the next trip for them will be quite some time later.

Zheng was having his very first time "swimming" in the sea with mummy and both of them were having a great time making sand castle! Rou En refused to play water at the beach but got her first swim in a hotel's pool. She loves it very much even initially she dare not go near the water.

Some of the photos of them in the pool...

Freezing Zheng who refusd to wear a shirt as his body and lips were turning black when he insisted to stay in the ice-cold pool. Luckily, he stopped fussing and get out from the pool eventually and stayed with Po Po while watching others played.
So, mummy was able to spend time with Rou En in the pool without worrying about Zheng.

All in all, it was a fun and exciting trip for the kids... as usual... when can parent enjoy their own vacation??

*********************************************************************************

Some knitting projects to show off (that's why blog so little for the past one year!!!)

Remember Rou En's blouse?

Ta-dah! Presenting our little model with mummy's handknitted Rainbow Dress (in fact, it's a bigger size pullover for her)

And mummy's wool shrug which started since August 2009 and completed in mid of December 2010! The longest knitting project in queue...

Wish to continue knitting in this new year too. It brings satisfaction... in some way, knitting is therapeutic. Kids are growing so fast, Rou En is attending K1 in her kindergarten this morning.

Most important of all, the new life is WE ARE MAID LESS now!!! The maid somehow ran away... so let's just take this opportunity to lose weight by taking up the household chores more...

It's late, but still wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR for 2011!!!

Colours Rule!

The kids especially En En is very sensitive towards colours... well, most children love pretty colours. En En and Zheng can't get enough with colours stamping or they call it "chop" (on paper most of the time).

This is one of the creation they both created with a four colours stamp ink mummy bought from Popular bookstore some days ago...

1) En En's is more likely will stamp multiple colours on paper in row, one by one neatly while singing the "Red, yellow, blue, green" tune. Mummy think she learned from Mickey Mouse clubhouse about the tune.

2) Zheng will just follow whatever JieJie is doing or snatch whatever JieJie is playing. So, mummy gave him to try on stamping too and guess what? He's able to "chop" same colours on the one he stamped previously. More like grouping the same colours.

Mummy also love pretty colours too and En En was bugging mummy to make rainbow colours shirt for her. How mummy wish can sew because it will be much faster but never mind... mummy decided to knit one blouse for her according to her colours selection. The blouse is still work in progress...

The green-beige stripy shirt below is knitted as a birthday gift for Zheng. He needs to grow into it first before can wear it... LOL! Yeah, it's very huge on him currently.

Recovered from flu!

Finally both En En and Zheng already back to their usual self and active... playing! Not forgetting those screaming and shouting sound... Very noisy, guess it will be terrible if mummy got 2 boys yeah?

Mummy knitted an elephant toy for En En, she loves it! Mummy is so happy since this is the first handmade toy for En En. She even requested mummy to make one for Di Di and she selected Red colour for the little brother. Oh... she's such a loving sister.

So, this is a pair of elephant for Jie Jie and Di Di! En En calls hers as Yellow Elephant and Di Di's elephant as Di Di's... so simple only! LOL...

Below this one is a long queue project in mummy's knitting list... recall from this post. Mummy finished the top knitted part for 5 months but only manage to get Po Po's help to sew the dress during last month's visit back to mummy's hometown.

Isn't it lovely? Too bad En En refuse to wear it and she said because can see armpit... *slap head*

Baby Booties

Nice or not? But not mummy's work, it's MIL. Yeah... Ah Mah is a very talented in art, crafts and needlework. Mummy feels pressure but quite glad to have someone to guide in knitting or crochet. Oh, sewing too!

Mummy is going to try out crocheting a pair of baby booties. The picture above is the pattern but exclude the embroidery. Let's see whether baby Z can wear them when it's done.

False Alarm at 39 Weeks!

Thought the blood stain was the sign of labour but it stopped at mid-day. Nothing happen since then and mummy is still sitting at home feeding En En, bring her to bath... everything remain as usual. Basically, mummy already prepare to welcoming baby anytime as it's very heavy to walk around plus mummy developes painful thigh if sitting too long. Thus, resulting in walking difficulty. What a bad experience... Well, to be exact... mummy really wish baby to greet the world as soon as possible!

Had the chance to try again childhood food. In memory, only had this once during teenage years. Putu Mayong... not in love with it but it did bring back some childhood memory.

And latest craving - Char Siew Pau! That's how mummy's weight piled on so fast lately... last visit to gynea, mummy's weight already hit 83kg!!!

Never stop knitting as knitting helps to keep swollen fingers active! Daddy asked mummy to snap a picture of all the knitted items so far and here there are:-

A vest for baby No.2, a cable vest for En En, baby cardigan, baby hats and woolen babylegs! Never get boring knitting wool longies and wool soakers for use with cloth fitted nappies!

DIY Baby Items

For babywearing:

Am trying to DIY a pouch and ring sling. Thanks alot to Jess and the monthly babywearer group gathering in Penang. Well, I can't sew yet, my mum help me on the pouch sling and I'm still haven't squeeze time to learn sewing the edge of the cloth for ring sling... Need to learn to sew straight line on cloth first...

For Breastfeeding:

-nursing cover

Also DIY nursing cover, I have 2 of them. Thanks alot to my mum... there are so many wonderful items can be made if only I know how to sew... :P

- nursing pillow - no photos yet as they are still in progress and yes I'm going to have 2 and made by mum... :)

- nursing clothes - will try to modified existing baggy clothes (for experiment) if really need to have them after the baby establish good latching on and mummy can be a moo by then.

For baby garment:

Completed knitting 3 wool longies and one baby vest...

Knitting in progress:

1) Another wool longies size M/L - 85% completed

2) Baby hoodie/cardigan - 80% completed

3) Baby hat

4) Toddler simple kimono - 55% completed but am afraid not enough yarn...

5) A cable vest for myself - guess this one will drag and on hold after No.2 comes out...

Just rememebr I got to clear the room's cabinet and wardrobe to make space for baby clothes and napkin. Limited space need a nice arrangement and clean up... that's why I'm so pack at this moment...

Oh ya... today I started to feel the belly tighten up, looks like baby is growing and the belly starts to expand. Got to monitor any extra stretch mark now...

Knitting works - On hold at the moment

A baby cotton vest - mistake in stitching but never have the chance to correct it yet. This is also the first knitting project with different patterns involved in the work... quite interesting and tiring to do the counting of different stitches.

This is a wool longies (long pants) for infant. Achieve the length but not even the shape yet and got to mix with yarn in different colours as this original colour is not enough for a longies...
Well, let's see how long it takes to complete them both.

They said I'm too free...

To do KNITTING!!!

I shall:
- Reorganise my wardrobe
- Pack those unwanted clothes (in fact are those unfittable one as I never shrink back to my pre-pregnancy size *Sigh*)& send them to recycle center
- Wash all my handbags and shoes
- Collect those spoiled high-heels which already been repaired for a few times and dump them in the dustbin
- Finish off my music thoery exercises
- Practise the piano
- Complete En En's mini scrapbook album (just a few pages...)
- Try out the ink with calligraphy pen which MIL just passed to me
- Start to bake cookies for CNY

I can't get my head off knitting patterns and the hands off casting on... till 2am! The knitting momentum is back and I just couldn't waste even a minute not having the needle in my hands.

I'll bring them out to places without En En following... which is rare, as you will never know whether you will have waiting session in between. I knit in the car while waiting for the traffic light to turn green... yeah... I know, I'm crazy these days.

I think I need a break. En En doesn't want a crazy mama... :) But I think I shall bring my knitting project with me for the ride back to Alor Setar later... DUH!

Wool Soaker for Newborn

It's so small but CUTE!!! I wonder whether I knitted the correct size... looks like I have to get more practise... Ah Mah said it's more suitable for En En's pooh bear to wear.... haha...LOL!

En En was interrupting when mummy was discussing with Ah Mah on the knitting problems and En En can't help to entertain herself with the yarn while talking loudly by herself.

En En in handknitted wool diaper cover

Cheeky En En in handknitted wool diaper cover!

Mummy snapped this pic right after En En woke up one morning before mummy changed her from her pyjamas. Well, ok mummy just pulled off her pants and ta-daa... the blue knitted soaker was shown!

Mummy never wear En En in wool cover during daytime but probably if the room is 24 hours with air-con still on, it's alright and don't think it is hot. Wool in fact is very breathable and it treated with lanolin is water resistant, air permeable, and slightly antibacterial, so it resists the buildup of odor.

My Birthday Gifts

This is a very backdated post, my Bday is in the early of Oct. This is the year that I rewarded myself alot... maybe too much according to DH.

So these are the gift I ordered for my own, DH helped me to bring back from US!
100% pure wool and 100% cotton knitting yarn! They are total 22 balls with each ball from USD1.99 - USD2.49, but they don't do international shipping. So, I'm lucky to have DH travel to US. Will knit for years with them since I'm a slow knitter... haha!

Acrylic stamp for my scrapbooking project! Still keeping them as I do not purchase any inkpad but I think this is going to be fun!
The next one is the gift from DH which I long to have and he supported me to go green!

It's a set of cloth menstrual pad!!! Made of bamboo velour and love them so much... extremely soft and luxurious to touch! En En got modern cloth diaper and mummy now also got modern cloth mentrual pad, how nice! Want to know more about cloth mama pad, stay tune for my update on my diapering blog.

So, I'm officially broke now since the gifts for myself were all in USD... *sigh*
