Am I consider fail in breastfeeding?

By introducing bottle to 11 days old baby???

Last night discovered the right nipple also bleeds... so no more nipple for baby Zheng to suckle. He was awake from 8.45pm till 12pm even we spoon-fed him 3 times with EBM. He still reluctant to sleep and was crying and screaming in search for his comforting source. Everyone was helping me to think of a way to calm him down but nothing works. Mummy was so guilty to agree give him the bottle but what to do in the followings days realizing the injury needs to take a few days to heal. Baby Zheng suckle another 2oz before he finally dozed off.

In fact, Jess came to see me yesterday all the way from Butterworth and taught me how to correct baby's lips when he latch on. Thank you so much Jess... and it really reduce the pain to very minimal or almost no pain at all once baby continue to suckle. That time, the right nipple was sore but no bleeding. Looks like the injury started since yesterday morning, the soreness was actually the RED signal.

Now mummy pray that baby Zheng won't reject mummy's breast after this and mummy is able to heal faster. Any tips to wean baby from bottle to breast?

No, you did what you could for your baby's wellbeing.
HOpefully your nipples will heal soon.

SOmebody mentioned on your previous post to let your nipples airdry after each feed to help heal faster.
You can also try feeding with nipple shields while your nipples are healing.

Also try using lansinoh (in future) if your nipples start to crack again or be sore.
Baby can still breast feed with the lansinoh on the nipples, no need to wash off.

Take things one step at a time, don't worry about the future (i.e. returning back to breast from bottle), some babies have no problems transitioning back.

And don't feel guilty or feel like a failure. It is a learning process, please don't push yourself to be perfect at something that you and baby are learning :)

yes, dont worry about it. at the end of the day your baby is comfortable and nourished and you are able to heal and rest, that's the most important thing. newborn period is such a rewarding time to bond and enjoy your baby, dont stress about 'success' or 'failure', there is no such thing as failure! just enjoy this time to the max. congratulations on baby zheng's birth by the way, he looks big and gorgeous!

Don't feel bad about introducing bottle as you have sore nipples. Try to air dry as much as possible by being braless. Don't worry about dripping, just wipe the milk with a clean hanky, and hopefully your soreness and crack will recover in a couple of days. I went through this too. :)

Eh don't be so hard on yourself lah. Nowadays people think that you fail as a mother if you didn't breastfeed. If can good, if cannot, don't kill yourself over it. You're supposed to be enjoying confinement!
You can try applying Purelan on your sore nipples or a hot compress. Works for me!

Don't be so hard on yourself, dear! This is just temporary. Wait till the nipple heals and you can resume breastfeeding. Sometimes you will get what is called Montgomery's tubercules on the nipple area - that's ok. But do see a lactation nurse to help you ascertain what is the best course to take.
Take care of yourself!

Err, I did let my Ryan drink EBM from bottle when I got sore nipples for few days. But so far, Ryan could accept nipple back after the sore nipples healed.

Don't worry la, baby will get used to it one.

During confinement, CE was fed with btl n formula milk. I had sore nipples too n used nipple shield n Medela Purelan. He didnt hv any probs drinking direct or from the btl. From the 2nd mth onwards, I was able to give him bm exclusively. So dun worry too much abt it. U're doing the best u can. Now that bb's latching correctly, ur bfg journey wud def be better.

Thanks alot for the motivation... yeah, no negative thought as it can affect emotion and stress the body. Hence, milk will reduce. Just remember this... thanks to all dear mommies!
