New Discovery...

On En En and Zheng...

The little girl is able to TRIM her own fingernails with a nail clipper without our knowledge!
The little boy is able to do RHYTHM TAPPING with perfect tempo on any songs without being taught!

Oh my goodness! Mummy need to "upgrade" herself anytime anywhere quickly as the kids are learning and improving SUPER FAST!!!

Long time update...

Lately, lazy to blog... ahem! It's too busy to blog... mummy is busy with the piano practise and knitting while daddy is busy playing FV with his laptop after work everyday so the moment mummy got to use daddy's laptop will be after 11pm.

The house is full of the noise and voice by the two kiddos, very often to be heard anyone from the family is complaining especially Zheng is the most noisy person in the house. If he's not sleeping, oh my goodness very often you can hear En En or Zheng yelling, screaming to each other when they play together or later one of them will be crying... fighting over this or that.

En En

- She is now very good in speaking English as she is able to understand and answer back whatever you ask her. Thanks to the schooling days at Koala Kids Enrichment Center and the environment there.

- She is able to differentiate Left and Right correctly! Bravo, ready to learn piano but am not planning to let her involve in piano playing as she has no interest shown yet. Maybe after 7 years old...?

- Still that stubborn and pig-headed when it comes to requesting that particular person to bath her, to feed her or to play with her. Otherwise, she will show you the long face or making annoying sounds to show that she is unhappy. Yes, she still need to be fed and refuse to eat on her own. Lazy?

- Refuse to keep her toys after playing and will insist or force her little brother to play with her even Zheng is not interested. She always been beaten up by her violence brother due to forcing him to go by pulling him. Yes, she is the one who cries the most when 2 of them are fighting.

Zheng Zheng

- He knows when it is time to sit down properly when it's mealtime as long as a cane is in front of him. Otherwise, you can see him going here and there when he's in the middle of having his meal.

- Screams and shouts the most in loud pitch daily, be it happy or angry or sad... Throw tantrum by throwing anything in his hands or next to him when he's angry or didn't get what he wants. Very dangerous and horrible behaviour... therefore, being caned the most when he kept on repeating this action.

- Unable to speak properly in sentence on what he is trying to express. We still guess on what he's talking about. He can only says by words or doing action. Obviously slower than En En in speech but physically heis fast and stronger much more than his sister.

- A destroyer and black-listed little guy in the family as he will take anything that got his interest and play with it then drop the thing at somewhere no one know. Later, the whole family will search the thing like a mad person.
For example, he once took mummy's cellphone to play and mummy was unable to find it for 1 whole day. Unable to call as the battery already gone. At last, daddy found it in the sewing machine's drawer. Another scenario: playing with keys and at then end ended up in one of the kitchen's drawer; a few days ago, some of the toys were missing, after searching for sometimes, finally been found inside the shoes cabinet!

Both of them:

Love ice cream!

Love going to youth park's playground!
Love to glue to daddy whenever possible!
Love to play pretend!
Love to fight for the same thing at the same time! (Is there a reason here?)

Love to draw with crayons, doodle anywhere they like (on the wall and furniture) before being punished!
Love to eat fish and meat!
Love to watch "Timmy Time" on PHDC channel everyday!

Love imitating each other!

18 months old Zheng!

Turned 18 months old on 19 April 2010

Yes, we miss out so many achievements of this little fella since mummy never sit down and blog them out. Here is a quick one before mummy forget.

Before that, Zheng and En En is still having flu and running nose (now turn into allergy, prolong flu) since 1 and a half week ago. Both of them still on medication at the time when mummy is blogging.

Vital:
Height - 79cm
Weight - 11.5kg

Diet:
Main meal is porridge but basically he seldom rejects any kind of food that we offer him. A little dustbin at home as he even and STILL put non-food related item into his mouth.

Take 3-4oz milk per day, we just give him Fernleaf. Nothing fancy... as sometimes he won't drink at all and ended up throwing away. Therefore, no need expensive milk powder.

Still breastfeed even mummy planned to wean him by 18 months old but not the mid-night feed and comfort sucking. He still want "nen-nen" when he got nothing to do and seeing mummy free that time.

SMALL ACCIDENT
Happened on last Friday when mummy was not at home. Zheng inserted a small plastic part of the toy car into his NOSE!!! Then, no one was able to take out that small part and everyone was so panic. Daddy and Ah Mah quickly drove him to emergency unit in Adventist Hospital. It was around 5-6pm. Heard that Zheng still able trying to "talk" to the nurse by pointing his nose to tell his condition but he's not crying, quite calm. He was screaming so LOUD when doctor removing the plastic part from his nostril. After that, he was carried to Ah Mah with no crying and tears! He's back to his usual self as soon as you see him again!

Speech & Vocab

- Everything that needs to be opened, he will ask you to "Open the door!" Even when he wants "nen-nen" (ask mummy to open the bra!)

- Thank kee (thank you)

- piii (please)

- pish (fish)

- meow meow (cat)

- dog or woo woo

- bubble (shampoo or bubbles)

- kok kok (horse, think Hokkien is "kok kok beh")

- shee shee (pee, sometimes poo)

- dui tiao (shui4 jiao4, means sleep in mandarin)

- bing bing (means biscuit in mandarin)

- mei mei (means pretty in mandarin)

Most of the time, he will mimic or trying to pronounce the words that we tell him. He's more responding compare to En En.

Potty Training
Still it is early but he already show awareness when he wee wee and poo poo. Now, he will "announce" to us AFTER he pee. Therefore, even when we get him the potty, the diaper already wet.

He is not familiar when not in diaper, he will pull his bird when he walks and make fuss to you if he's diaperless. Maybe we need to train him in using the potty more often and he is very interested to play when sitting on the potty cover on the toilet's potty (aka adult's potty by En En).

Sleep
Nap for 2-3 hours every afternoon (since 10 or 11 months old). He won't be needing McB if mummy is not around and will sleep in 5 seconds if he's very tired.

Always look for En En since they sleep together in the afternoon.

Night time need McB and supper before he goes to bed. He will ask for "mum-mum" (food) after 2 or 3 hours after his dinner. He won't be sleeping if no supper. Even so, he is not super chubby type.

Attitude
One BAD attitude is he loves to scream and cry his lungs out if things are not at his way. On top of that, rolling on the floor! Worse still, throw whatever he is holding or hit anyone besides him!!! (Most of the time, it's En En)

Starts his "radio" immediately and turn soft or Stop also immediately when given food or distracted. He must be a real good ACTOR!!!

My first pair of shoes!

Looks like "kar-kiak" (in hokkien dialect, is an old wooden shoes wore by traditional chinese ladies) to us but it's En En first pair of "high-heels"! Eww... 4 years old on high heels doesn't sounds nice to mummy though...

Well, she chose this pair of shoes on her own and insisted daddy to buy for her without looking at other. Ah Mah said En En gave excuses such as " this one cannot wear, this one leg pain after wearing" to those shoes that she didn't like. Now, she is real good at giving reasons and excuses.

She's happily posing for mummy to take her photos with her new shoes on...

Still looks big on her, maybe fit better by the end of the year after she grows more...

En En was getting naughtier and more brave to speak out whenever she's not happy with something or someone after attending school. She started to tell lie and denies on something bad done by her. A couples of days ago, she hide behind the door with a crayon in hand and drew up to the wall!!! Mummy caught her and guess what she said? She claimed that it's Zheng who drew the wall!!! Unbelievable that she's lying and look at the height of the "masterpiece", it's really impossible for Zheng to draw so high...

We taught her to tell the truth and admit that she has done something wrong and to our surprise, she was firm with her lie! She was very firm on her speech - saying that she's not the one who drew on the wall even she was still holding the crayon!!! Arrgh... mummy cannot stand it and brought out the small cane and asked her again who did that mess... Ah Mah was also shocked that this little girl was so firm and steady when telling a lie!

After many many times asking her to admit what she did wrong then only she admitted with an unwillingly face. Kakak got to clean up her mess on the wall and she was banned to use crayon for 2 days! Starting to feel the challenge is growing bigger in bringing up a stubborn little girl...

3 years and 7 months old

En En has many problems, well at least in mummy's eyes...

1. Eating habit:

- She still refuse to eat on her own, need only Ah Mah to feed her...

- Refuse to try on new food as she will give you that I'm-going-to-cry look when there are new food in her mouth which we insisted her to put inside the mouth and chew, if dislike just spit out! 95% of the time, she spits out!

- She takes maybe too much dairy food per day (3-4x milk, 2 slices cheese, poultry cooked in porridge are the main routine meals) which we think is also contributing to her constipation...

- Dislike vegetable and fruits, take in little apple ONLY! Another reason for constipation? Been thinking whether to give her Vitamin C supplement?

- Latest favourite is CocoCrunch, HoneyStar cereal to be taken for snack. At least better than biscuits for everyday intake.

- She still use milk bottle though... Ah Mah was saying need to buy more and store *pengsan* BUT mummy and daddy insisted NO!

2. Sleep

- Lately she woke up quite early in the morning, she has 1-2 hours nap in the afternoon with Zheng together.

- She needs Ah Mah to accompany her to sleep ever since Zheng is here. Before that was mummy to be at her side but mummy noticed since pregnant with Zheng she's looking for someone who can attend her FULL TIME. She will cry whenever she realized Ah Mah is not in the room and therefore Ah Mah MUST BE at home everyday! Quite ridiculous but Ah Mah is willing to accompany her so mummy can't think of when En En will be independent? Maybe Zheng is more independant than her by 3 years old...

Mummy just recalled one conversation with En En.

(Mummy brought Zheng into Ah Mah's room one night whereby En En is sleeping with Ah Mah)
En En: Zheng cannot come in Ah Mah's room!!!

Mummy: Then mummy throw Ah Zheng out from the house, ok?

En En: Ok, En En (stay) together with mummy... (in a very soft tone)

Mummy: Huh?

Ah Mah: Still a jealous girl...

So, this is all about sibling rivalry. She never rejects her little brother but she will tell you she doesn't want mummy... Looks like she needs a very long time to understand that she and her little brother are equally loved by mummy and daddy, not only Ah Mah. How to make her understand? *Sigh*

3. Others

- En En now enjoy washing hands ever since she attended school before the holiday breaks. She will ask to wash hand and she wants to stand on a stool and do the washing herself.

- She knows how to use words like "Why?" "because" "so / so that"

- En En will tell us she's a good baby while Zheng is a naughty baby which is quite true. Di Di will snatch people's stuff, mess around the house, don't listen to what we told him but En En is trying to be as much obedient and yes to almost everything when it comes to disciplin.

- She accepts wearing skirt!!! She think she looks pretty in them now... LOL!

- En En loves to play with the colourful peg and her favourite colours are green, blue and yellow. There's a reason why only those colours since the peg has red and pink colours too.

- She's been assigned colours to everyone in the family:

En En is GREEN

Ah Mah is YELLOW

Daddy is BLUE

Mummy is PINK

Ah Kong is RED

Di Di Zheng is ORANGE

So, En En will tell us GREEN, BLUE and YELLOW are her favourite colours. Now you know what's the real meaning behind.

13 months old update

Amazingly, my 13 months old boy is able to play slide on his own! Super kid!!!

Today discovered another milestone as he's able to come down from the stairs by putting his legs down (rear facing) steps by steps. Yippee!!! Zheng was screaming whenever he wants to come down from upstairs as he was afraid to come down on his own. He is brave now.

Vital

Weight: Think he grows abit flesh as can see the tummy obviously from side... LOL!

Height: Unsure as no measurement taken

Diet

This little boy has snack throughout the day! He doesn't take more than 3oz of formula milk per day but loves Milo and yoghurt drinks alot.

Porridge for lunch and dinner (even the same for En En!), biscuits or cookies or bread in between meal. Sometimes, he will eat apple, orange, papaya and pineapple at late afternoon. As long as he's awake, he will munch on food! Specially in love with crunchy food maybe he loves the crunches sound that he makes when biting...

He still snack on McB througout the day except that it's lesser at daytime but can't live without McB if it's nap time and at night.

Verbal/ Vocab

Discovered some new words from this little boy lately:

"buall" -ball

"wow! Wow!" - mimic the dog's barking and the way he says dog

"b-yau" - bu yao in mandarin (means don't want)

Other Developments

Overall, he speaks late compare to En En but achieved way too fast on other motor skills. He mimics or follows whatever En En is doing or saying almost IMMEDIATELY and learn very fast.

Characteristics

- Strong determination (Never give up easily and will do whatever he can to get what he wants)

- Bad temper in wanting everything to be done quick

- Tough and rough (imagine he's able to mix in and pay with kids that are En En's age or older)

- Happy baby (always smile with anyone even stranger)

- Food lover (as long as not mushy and yucky type of food)

Going to School

En En went for a trial class for the past 2 days in school or probably will be her nursery school soon. She seems very happy going to school eventhough she said she doesn't want to go when we asked her.

Mummy attended the class with her (yes, inside the classroom!) from 9.30am (well, it started at 9.am sharp) till 12 noon. From reluctant to join on first day, she was slowly enjoying the activities in class. Lots of movement with playing while learning is what mummy loves about this center. It's run by an Australian mama whom mummy knew from the Penang babywearing group!

Mummy joined En En in the class sicne she's too shy and timid to mix with her peers. She even zipped her mouth and looked away while others were singing or the teacher was asking her a question. Even so, mummy noticed En En in fact was observing her surrounding and whatever that was happening. So far, we created sea creatures with Play-Doh, did colouring. writing, singing with movements, counting with coloured figurines and crayons,... and there are lots of story books displayed in the classroom which teacher will ask the students who completed their writing or colouring work to grab one while waiting for others to finish.

We attended the trial class and after discussed with daddy, we decided to enrol En En for the last 2 weeks of the month before the school holiday starts since she started to show her interest. Then on January 2010, En En will be officially going to school!

Zheng's First Birthday

Definitely a backdated post!

The day before the celebration, mummy made this... guess what it is?

Zheng couldn't wait to inspect his birthday toy from Ku Ku by stepping on it!

Received first "Ang Pow" from Ah Kong... He thinks red packet taste good too!

Mummy specially made this Birthday hat for En En, she loves purple colour...

Testing the crown for Di Di...

Ta-Dah! This is the King of the day!

The traditional way to tell it's a birhtday party... LOL

Yummy-licious jelly!!!

Very nice birthday cake eventhough initially the design should be round but the day we collected the cake, it's square... Strange but maybe we didn't emphasized the cake must be round.

Oh... mummy thought of ordering cupcakes but after thinking twice, being in an extremely health concious and picky food eaters family... probably will get bad comments such as "Sugar coated, bad for the body", "Too expensive just for the decoration", "Not even delicious as our homemade", "Not worth since small portion", "So waste as no one is going to eat sugar cupcakes"... stick to the old fashion is still the evergreen solution... haha!

Before Zheng blew the candle, the cake already in a disaster mode... well, done by the King of a day!

Zheng couldn't wait for the photo sessions and was fussy standing in front of the cake too long. En En on the other hands showed her jealousy by not joining in the birthday song singing session and the photo session. She was sitting aside from all of us even we asked her to join. NO smiles from her face at all!!!

Zheng was throwing tantrum when it's cake cutting ceremony but felt interesting about the act and therefore he was quite cooperate for the photo shots.

Later on, they couldn't wait to play with the new toys... and threw balls all over the living room. Found the ball on the piano, inside the potty, out from the house,...

A very special and eventful day - at home!!!

41 months old!

The "I don't want" stage:-

1. I don't want to sit in the car seat
2. I don't want to sit in the cart when buying groceries in TESCO or Cold Storage
3. I don't want to sleep
4. I don't want to wear dress or skirt (headache as she out grown them so fast)
5. I don't want to watch this programme
6. I don't want to eat (porridge)
7. I don't want to drink milk (but mix with MILO is fine)
8. I don't want to stay in a room with DiDi alone
9. I don't want to accept anyone say I'm pretty in what I wear
10. I don't want!!! (to listen to any command that I don't like)

Diet

Lately, she loves to eat Marie biscuits, cheese, Yakult, prune juice, Calci-yum and fried anchovies with porridge. She still refuse to eat rice, always request to have noodles when eating out. Because she dislike vegetable, we need to cook them in porridge in order to give her a balance diet. Don't really understand why she reject fruits at all (except apples) as she never willing to taste any of them too.

She takes milk (with MILO) at least 3-4 times per day. 8-9oz each... Wondering whether she still need so much? Can't let go of milk bottle yet...

Conclusion: En En is a fussy and picky eater.

Potty Train

She is still having constipation problems. Good news is she's totally potty train, even for night! Bravo! No more diapers...

Emotion

She is a sensitive person. She needs attention most of the time and will cry it out loud when she realized no one is in the room when she wakes up from sleep or nap. Call it a bad habit or perhaps it's her need for comfort since she was an infant. Ah Mah gives her all the attention she needs even till today and she still call herself as baby *slap head*

She adores her little brother but she has mood swing. Some day she will hug and cuddle Di Di but sometimes she will kick and push Di Di away and curl up in Ah Mah's arm. That's the time she refuse mummy too. Maybe that is the cause of jealousy especially when she see mummy is with Di Di 24x7, moreover Di Di still suck McB. She pretend to suck McB too but when she's with Ah Mah...

Lately, she prefers to go "kai-kai" and will ask us almost everyday after bath "Where are we going?" Her favourite spots include:-

1) Youth Park to play slide, swing and see-saw

2) Gurney Plaza - Toy "R" Us, Popular bookstore

3) Any new places with big space for her to run and jump!

Guess she's boring to stay at home nowadays. So, it's time or nursery school hunting!

Dear En En,

Just hope that you know mummy, daddy and Di Di adores you alot! We are always there for you and we love you very very much!

Zheng's TEETH... and some update...

Since last week, we notice his 2 top pearly white sprouting out at last. They are growing longer now... mummy wish Zheng teeth grow faster so that can stuff him with various kind of food woth different texture... haha!

He walks very steady and confident now, stepping on or over anything under his heels. Therefore, this is the reason he will fall down but this little guy is too tough as he never cry after he fell down or bang his head accidentally on wall or table. Scary boy... As a result we always discover he has bruises and cut all over his limbs but have no idea when it had happened. Another big headache for mummy and daddy...

He was eating like a bliss when we first introduced solid food to him but now... he has turned into a little monster whenever it's meal time. He spits the food out when he doesn't like it especially after he feels abit full. Fuss over in the high chair and never eat properly like before. He likes to snatch people's food, bowl or spoon whenever he sees anyone is having meal within his reach.

He still poo poo whenever he feels it's coming... which has no expression on the face! He doesn't know how to let us know too. He refuse to do big business in a potty as he will protest by screaming loudly as much as possible whenever mummy put him on potty. As a result, we always have to clean him and the soiled diaper too. Suddenly mummy feels that potty training is still very far from us...

Baby's Steps

10 months 2 weeks and 2 days old

Zheng is walking 5-6 steps today! Saw him started to walk on his own a few times today. He will fall back and sit when he realized he's unstable in standing... What a joyful moment to discover his new milestone...

Sunday, August 30, 2009

Good appetite!

Today's dinner... Zheng ate half bowl of rice with cooked sauce after his usual 1 bowl of porridge!!!

He's crawling and climbing more and more in Po Po's house, and not forgetting screaming his lungs out when we placed him in the baby cot when things got busy around the house. Another reason is he refuse to sit in high chair for his meal and we ended up tie him on the high chair which he dislike the most... Therefore, he didn't able to finish the usual portion of the food.

Glad to know that he's ready to eat rice even though he still has NO TEETH!

Little Energizer who munch alot

9 months 1 weeks and 5 days old Boy

Of course he is the one!!! Move non-stop, eat non-stop (eating things that are call food and thing that aren't food)... but still hardly notice any fat form him as he burns fat faster than mummy... :P Climb up staircase at least 3x per day BUT he is unable to come down.

Eating bread while watching TV...

Eat porridge while playing at the chilren playground @ Gurney Plaza...

He thinks pacifiers and milk bottles are toys... he never suck them on longer than a minute...

Eating toys... and that was Jie Jie's toy...

"See my tummy rumbly?"

Weighed him yesterday at the visit to Klinik Kesihatan and he is 8.8kg, 72cm tall. Still no teeth but loves to eat biscuit!
