It's Valentine's Day!

Backdated post.

Just feel nice to get the kiddos to make Valentine's Day card for daddy... and they got the cance to play with Glitter!!! En En is defintely excited, Zheng just followed whatever JieJie is doing.

This is the heart mummy cut out for Zheng and he's enjoying so much "pouring" out the sparkle.

This one belongs to En En. With pink glitter, pink heart,.. she wants everything in PINK!!!

The outer look of her card...

and this is Zheng's card with mummy's help...

The cheeky boy posing with the card while eating...

Ladies receive flowers from guys and everyone knows that how expensive to buy flowers on V-Day! Ah Kong and Ah Mah also criticized on buying and sending flowers on V-Day. It is said to be a waste of money.. anyway, mummy doesn't really like flowers though...

Guess what, Ah Kong and Ah Mah gave a briliant idea!! Instead of sending a bouquet of flowers / roses, why not send a pot of growing roses!!! Buy that beautiful pot of roses 1 week before V-Day.Water the plant, taking care of it until V-Day then send it to your love one. The roses will still bloom and bloom all year long plus save you lots of money!!! LOL...

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to  EVERYONE!

Colours Rule!

The kids especially En En is very sensitive towards colours... well, most children love pretty colours. En En and Zheng can't get enough with colours stamping or they call it "chop" (on paper most of the time).

This is one of the creation they both created with a four colours stamp ink mummy bought from Popular bookstore some days ago...

1) En En's is more likely will stamp multiple colours on paper in row, one by one neatly while singing the "Red, yellow, blue, green" tune. Mummy think she learned from Mickey Mouse clubhouse about the tune.

2) Zheng will just follow whatever JieJie is doing or snatch whatever JieJie is playing. So, mummy gave him to try on stamping too and guess what? He's able to "chop" same colours on the one he stamped previously. More like grouping the same colours.

Mummy also love pretty colours too and En En was bugging mummy to make rainbow colours shirt for her. How mummy wish can sew because it will be much faster but never mind... mummy decided to knit one blouse for her according to her colours selection. The blouse is still work in progress...

The green-beige stripy shirt below is knitted as a birthday gift for Zheng. He needs to grow into it first before can wear it... LOL! Yeah, it's very huge on him currently.

Craft time!

It's about mummy, ok... Daddy just said mummy was doing some crazing things again... Well, how many years mummy can get the chance to do crazy crafts like now? LOL!

It's all about childhood memory, moreover arts and crafts are something mummy would love to share with the kids if mummy have time to scrap and mess around with colours and papers. Now is the perfect time and mummy still have lots of things to do with En En and ZHeng when they grow older...

Sorry yeah... coz right now let mummy do the messing games solo first, furthermore at midnight!!! Haha... it's good to be a scrapper as everything is ready on hands!

Recovered from flu!

Finally both En En and Zheng already back to their usual self and active... playing! Not forgetting those screaming and shouting sound... Very noisy, guess it will be terrible if mummy got 2 boys yeah?

Mummy knitted an elephant toy for En En, she loves it! Mummy is so happy since this is the first handmade toy for En En. She even requested mummy to make one for Di Di and she selected Red colour for the little brother. Oh... she's such a loving sister.

So, this is a pair of elephant for Jie Jie and Di Di! En En calls hers as Yellow Elephant and Di Di's elephant as Di Di's... so simple only! LOL...

Below this one is a long queue project in mummy's knitting list... recall from this post. Mummy finished the top knitted part for 5 months but only manage to get Po Po's help to sew the dress during last month's visit back to mummy's hometown.

Isn't it lovely? Too bad En En refuse to wear it and she said because can see armpit... *slap head*

The first craft

Playing with paper punches and stamping! No choice, mummy got to bring out all the tools and papers for scrapbooking to introduce En En some paper craft or maybe scrapbooking in future... Oh well, she loves it!

The flowers in white and black ink stamped by En En, mummy embellished them later with the details. Nice or not? Will blog about where this to be used in next post.

Back to Scrapbooking mood...

I think I'm having back the mood to do scrapbooking (sb) after been abandoned it for cloth diapering. Completed 2 layout (LO) last weekend and feel so contented.

Wow... was inspired by local scrappers in a sb forum that I recently join and my head was full of ideas now. Can't wait to let my creativity ideas flow out into my LO asap. I always believe sb doesn't have to be expensive because once you get the necessities of sb such as the cardstock, pattern paper, acid-free album and some specialty adhesive the rest you can get it in local stationary shop. I got ribbons, lace, button, and some colorful yarn from a local sewing supply shop while searching for knitting yarn. That's one stone kill two birds... hehe... I may get some artificial flower for my LO from the flower shop too.

Saw a few challenge in sb links and feel tempted to participate for fun. Never do this before but I think it will be very interesting. I even think of creating another blog only for sb but feel reluctant coz that's mean my sleep time will be gone in no time... Guess I'm not meant for blogging about PPP for $$$ but for interesting posts, probably yes.

Don't ask me when I'm going to have a blog for music... I think I will pengsan (faint) even before it get started!

Knitting Progress

I feel like crying already... I'm still so far away from completing my wool soaker. Think probably I will ban myself from writing blogs for 2 weeks! Even MIL also said I'll complete that in a year with current progress... *Sigh*

It's not easy to do this needlework, lots of patient and time required. I started a few rounds of knit and purl but oming to the next row only reliazed I made mistake. So, gotto undo and redo again... that took me 2 hours to knit back again. What to do, new beginner is like that...

Think I got to be more disciplin and determine to get my project done as soon as possible. En En is growing everyday, got to make sure the measurement still fit her after I complete... haha!

My wool!

The wool from Australia's wool mill for my knitting project - wool soaker and the customised wool soaker from Shannon! Can't wait to start my knitting session asap and tonight am going to try the wool soaker as diaper cover for En En's fitted diaper. My inspiration of knitting came from when I become a cloth diaper addict!

Crazy Mama on-the-go!

Oh my... last weekend was interesting, En En got into the swimming pool (ok, it's babypool) for the first time and already recovered from her fever before she was able to play water in the pool. Thank God! Mummy caught flu after that... maybe virus from En En since woke up at 3am daily with En En for 1 week. Will blog this out later.

Ok, mummy got to admit neglecting the blog update due to sourcing for knitting materials and browsing lots of free knitting & crocheting pattern online. Mummy skipped lunch for a few days now coz realized time is so limited to slot in knitting session. Srapbooking temporarily give way, but still need to do searching to provide the buying list of scrapbooking items for daddy who's going to US soon. Yes, US is far more cheaper than here... will try to get some papers and hopefully a few supplies. Cross finger...

Guess what, I can't even believe I'm trying to knit while on the wheels! All this while, the most I did was reading magazine or newspaper, I just don't like to waste time for traffic jam or long waiting for traffic light to turn green. So just took out the needle and yarn in bag... luckily the waiting period is long - nearly 4/5 minutes. I'm still an almost-score-0 in knitting beginner, struggling so muh to get the correct stitch... and was so happy that I manage to do casting on, even it's just one stitch! I hope the driver besides me didn't see what I was doing... haha! I'm another crazy mama on the go.

Trial Knitting

Started to learn knitting, well actually I shall say to have a feel of knitting yesterday. Able to took out some yarn last purchased for crochet project (but never really try any ~bleh~) and knitting needles from MIL's sewing supplies box.

Observed and tried for so many times and I'm still holding the two needles at the same place even I tried to knit and purl. There is no picture to show in this blog beause if have I have the pictures, it is also unable to tell which one is before and after. As to me before and after knit and purl, the yarn still stayed at the same place! Ha! Who says knitting is an easy work?? MIL asked me to learn on how to hold the knitting needle correctly first. In fact, I'm still unsure what is knit and what is purl. Saw MIL doing quite fast and even she slowed down to demonstrate, I also can't get any idea yet. I'm confuse when the yarn hook over the needle and was wonder where the yarn tied up at the end??

Need to get the illustrated pictures to have a close look on the basic knit and purl though. I did and downloaded a few knitting step-by-step as reference. Browsed through a few free patterns and they just look simply nice. Hmm... I'm thinking if I can master this skill and crocheting too, am I doing any good towards a frugal living??

Dreaming about cloth diaper

Oh my goodness! I was awake at 3.45am this morning, realizing my daughter was turning while sleeping. Guess she must be hungry since the last feed was 9.30pm last night. Made her the milk, yes in bottle as I do not have supply anymore and she finished in her dream.

While I was about to sleep at 4.30am, couldn't so. Unconciously, cloth nappy suddenly filled up my mind. Fitted diaper, I'm going to get Baby Beehind and Tot-Bot bamboo.... maybe get another one from Bambineo? Or Happy Hempy? Hmm.... Motherease Sandy's also a nice one for heavy wetter. Nappy cover should try wool or fleece? Shall I pick Lovelybum or Stacinator? Tot-Bot fleece in Stripe is cute for its colours...want to know where I can get all this? Order from overseas, but I never do so but locally we have Mia Bambina.

Within seconds, I already doozed off and guess what! I was dreaming already started off to knit the soaker! OMG! Can't imagine how I knit since I never knit and never know how to knit I day dream too much and really can't get my head off about being crazy with cloth diaper/nappy.... whatever you name it.

Yes, since July I started to study and research about fabric and yarn for knitting too. Pulled out MIL's 70s book about needlework (published in Australia) and there are so many types of cloths that use in today cloth diaper/nappy were never exist in the 1970s. No wonder the older generation has no idea about what I'm talking about the modern cloth diaper. You can see a few that I tested on En En from my link here:
http://awakenspring.blogspot.com/2007/06/en-en-in-cloth-diaper.html

Isn't they looks cute and nice on little bum? They are washable, reusable, gentle to baby skin and there are so many types out there. Read up at Diaperpin if want to know more. Well, can't really describe my feeling but I'm simply in love with Cloth Diapering!

Old Sewing Machine

Suddenly feel so regret of not knowing how to use a sewing machine. It's alright for other people but not me! My family was in textile business and my mum is a very good in sewing. We have electric sewing machine back home and that was bought for business purpose too. Nowadays since my dad decided to stop the business, they sold off a few good condition sewing machines.
After I married to Penang, I never touch any sewing machine. In fact, I seldom do that even back home. So feel so bad about it since my mum and my MIL also good in sewing with sewing machine. I think a mother should know how to use the sewing machine if there's one ready at home.
Right now, what I have at home in Penang is an antique sewing machine. MIL still take care of it very well and it's still in top condition. Yup, the type that you need to use your legs to move one.
Today I finally determined to learn using the sewing machine that my MIL is using all these while and found out it's not really that difficult. I guess I'll go back and ask from my mum on more sewing skills coz I remember she saw lots of clothes goodies for me and my sisters especially pretty bags and house-hold items which made of cloths.
