Mozzies Attack!

How sad to look at En En's legs... she will keep on scratching those area even when they are healing. As a result, she has lots of scars from the "kiss of the mozzie". It started before CNY but till today those old and new scars keeps on appearing from time to time... so worry that her skin is extremely sensitive. What we need to do now is how to prevent her from the bite? Insect repellant is not working on her as she refuse to let us put on and those are chemicals-made product... good meh?

Any good solution to get rid of mozzies instead of spraying, and using other commercials method? Is there any natural approach? Daddy loves to use the electrical mozzie racquet to electro-shock them... Any more ideas?

Read somewhere that using orange skin to rub against our skin will prevent mozzies from biting.

Also, citronella (serai) is another natural ingredient against mozzies.

BTW, congrats on the pregnancy. How exciting!

i don't have any ideas, except to avoid going outdoors during the time mozzies are most active. Also to burn mosquito coils or citronella when sitting down in mozzie area (smelly but it works).

When Abi gets bitten I put tiger balm on the bite (non-open wound), seems to reduce the itchiness better than zam buk. Less itch = less scratching & scarring.

Wen said tea tree oil, for open wound because it can assist in healing faster.

Hope she gets better soon!

Aiyo.. poor thing. Really a lot of marks leh. Agree with Wen. Mosq nets r vy good. Now my room has better ventilation n less mozzies. Another thing u can do, b4 bedtime, open ur room door, shoo out the mozzies with a towel or big cloth (fan every area of the room). Then make sure u don't leave the door wide open after that. Also try not to use dark bedsheet or pillow cases. Hope this helps.

try mozzie patch.

I use aromatherapy to counter mozzies. It's natural and it's safe - doesn't even need to touch the baby. I have a green tea based spray to spray on bites too.

Sharine, i uses Mos Baby Powder (can be found at any Indian shops) to keep the mosq away. If u need the photo and more details(it smells just like normal baby powder), do email me.

There's also a type of 'serai' candle that you can light up. The scent is proven to keep mossies away. My Mom got them from Cosway
