A Mother without weekend

Mummy miss lots of family occassions and activities for being a mom without a weekend. I work half day on Saturday and full day on Sunday as a part time music teacher. So the time Mummy has for my little girl is - Saturday after 1.30pm and Sunday before 10a.m.

As she grows older, mummy realized there must be some change to overcome this situation. Mummy hopes to spend more time for her as mummy already missed all the Sunday for the previous year. Suddenly feel like money is not everything and how many 3 years that we'll have to watch our little one grow up? Daddy is the one who doesn't want to miss the growing years of his baby even he was requested to work overseas for 3, 6 months and 1 year but he turned down them all. Mummy really salute daddy being so caring for the family.

Well it's true that when you are away too long from the little one the bonding will not be so strong. En En only will cling to mummy when she's sick and time for kai-kai. Other than that, she will tell mummy "Ma-miee... bu yao!" (mummy... don't want!) So heartache eh... The horrible part is she now calls Ah Mah as mamiee (since Ah Mah look after En En most of the time) and Mummy as Ah Mah *roll eyes* ... Identity switched! Mummy needs to work out something now...

p/s: When Po Po is here, En En only wants po po to do everything for her and by then she will says "Ah Mah, bu yao! Mamiee, bu yao!" I wonder what's my mum's tactics?

I know how you feel. To me, motherhood means sacrifices and gains. It's really a personal choice of whether to spend lots of time with our kids or to just spend a few hours of quality time a day or a week. Whatever you choose, it doesn't make you a lousy mom.

i know how you feel. There was once I was very upset too cause faythe refused to go home and wanted to stay with mil all the time, but it's just a phase. no worries :). She now tells me she loves me everyday...endlessly!!

Really dunno where u find the time to do knitting n scrapbooking (n ur other hobbies) when ur w/ends r oso occupied. *keng* Don't worry abt the identity switch. No one can replace u in her heart. Maybe she's trying to be cheeky?

Agree with Lian... that's one reason why I gave up my full time job. The first 2 years are very important to me. Then again, not all would choose the same. Whatever you choose will work. You just have to stick to it ;)

As Jazzmint says, this is probably a phase toddlers go through. But I do think that it's an indication that we may not have been spending quality time with our babies. I used to do my things while I let Sean play nearby me so that I'm always there if he needs me. But it's not the same as playing with him. Sean has been closer to me ever since I've consciously play with him more. If your weekends are busy, what about weekdays? After all,you can arrange your weekdays to be freer.

maybe you can think of forgoing your music job if only the money is not a problem for your family.

Hmmm.... ok I don't feel any of these as I'm with Darrius 24/7 so far except for a few shopping trips without him.

Oh I didn't realize that you work full time during the weekends as well as teaching piano during the weekends. If that's the case, maybe you ought to re-arrange your timetable so you have more free time with En-en?
